In his 19 years at Melrose, Larry Sprouse has led the church in physical and spiritual growth. Larry is a graduate of East Tennessee State University and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary of Louiseville, Kentucky. Larry's post-graduate work is in the areas of individual and family therapy. Larry is a professional pastoral counselor and certified at the Fellow level in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors (AAPC). Larry has served as President of the Board of Directors of the Mental Health Association of the Roanoke Valley. Larry loves the outdoors and enjoys fly-fishing, backpacking, hunting and training English Setters. Larry and his wife Jan have been married for twenty-seven years. Jan is a graduate of the University of Tennessee (B.S.) And Lynchburg College (M.Ed.) Jan works as a professional counselor in Bedford, VA. On November 6-7, 1998 at the mid-Atlantic regional meeting of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors (AAPC), Larry was certified at the Fellow Level. The Fellow category represents the advanced level in the practice of professional pastoral counseling. Larry had to pass requirements that gave evidence of an advanced level of integration of personhood, theology, pastoral identity, psychological theory and therapeutic skills. Congratulations to our Pastor on this remarkable professional achievement!!!
