Supplement Combination May Be Best for Arthritis Pain
Here’s an instance where a combination of arthritis-fighting
supplements seems to work better than either of them on its own.
Researchers in India report that combining glucosamine and
methlysulfonylmethane (MSM) is more effective for the relief of pain
and swelling caused by osteoarthritis than taking either of them alone.
The research team treated 118 patients having mild to moderate
osteoarthritis with 500 milligrams of glucosamine, 500 mg of MSM, or a
combination of the two. Although all of the patients improved, the
greatest benefit was seen among those who were taking the two
supplements together. Results of the study were published in the June
2004 issue of Clinical Drug Investigations.
